Fast charging in Halle
A Rapid Charger 150 from me energy has been operating in front of the Bau- und Wohnungsgenossenschaft Halle-Merseburg e.G.(BWG) experience house since March 2022. As a partially public charging station, cooperative members use it at a special rate. It is also accessible to the public via the usual charging apps or ad hoc payment. Due to its location right in front of the BWG-Erlebnishaus at Holzplatz 10 in Halle/Saale, the charger is very popular.
Smooth operation - positive response
The fast charging station offers added value for the members of the cooperative and for the entire region, allowing two vehicles to charge simultaneously around the clock. The charging station generates eco-friendly electricity using Ethanol as an energy carrier.
In addition to the residents of Halle, many customers from outside the city use the Rapid Charger via roaming.

"With climate-friendly energy generation from biomass, we have already saved almost 3 tons of carbon dioxide (as of September 2022). This way, we have already been able to contribute to greater sustainability in our city in recent weeks.", he adds. Members of the cooperative charge at a special rate: The price per kilowatt hour is reduced by 5 cents compared to what users from the surrounding area pay.

Lengthy planning and approval procedures are major challenges
The mobility turnaround also affects the institutional housing industry and housing construction companies. To cope with the growing number of electric cars housing companies increasingly rely on a corresponding charging infrastructure. However, there are always problems with the implementation. The planning and approval procedures take a long time and are often very complicated. Often, it takes more than four years from the initial idea to the commissioning of a charging station. In addition, conventional charging stations often require lengthy construction measures, depending on the initial situation. Many existing buildings are simply not designed to install charging infrastructure.
People who live in rented accommodation and do not have their own parking space are particularly reliant on easily accessible fast charging infrastructure. The reality is that we are far away from having a charging plug at every parking space. There is still much room for improvement, especially in rural areas. However, the provision of charging points is part of public services of general interest when switching to electromobility. It must be possible to supply electric cars with electricity everywhere.
